I am happy to announce the release of timna-0.0.1, the first public
release of my word processor.
Available at http://www.arava.co.il/matan/hebrew/timna-0.0.1.tar.gz
(Please note that there are some problems with the server, so if the
download stops somewhere between 60K-100K, just use wget or any other
tool for continuing the download).
It is still very much featureless, and lacks almost any documentation,
but is enough, in my opinion, to be the current tool of choice for
"writing a letter to the bank". (If you can do that without underlining,
and fully justified lines, just to name two missing features).
It is also very buggy, but should be enough to get through a simple
letter (especially if no spurious keys are pressed).
To compile it, first install fribidi-0.1.8, and then type make.
The svgalib version will be src/timna and the x version will be
src/timna.x. Now put some hebrew fonts (must have both hebrew and latin
letters in the same font. From windows fonts, the usable fonts are
arial, courier, times, aharoni, david, frankruehl, miriam) in
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ttfonts/ and run the program.
Please tell me of any bugs you find, or features you would like to see.
Patches are also welcome.
