Tru64 Unix is Digital's (Compaq) Digital Unix (once known as OSF/1). It's
an enterprise grade 64bit Un*x clone, meant to run on Alphas. It delivers
exceptional stability, C2 security (afaik), it's very robust, and almost
all commercial software packages have a Tru64 version (usually they have
Solaris, Tru64, HP/UX and sometimes AIX, IRIX or Linux).
The OS has very good SMP support for multi processing on Alpha (and not
the SMP support Linux has, which becomes more or less useless beyond 4
processors).
It's also expensive, annoying to use (user interface), and takes time to
get used to (albeit not half as bad as HP/UX).
About your Solaris vs. Tru64, I don't see how you wanna compare these.
Solaris runs on x86 and Sparc platforms. Tru64 runs on Alphas. What do you
want to compare exactly ?
