tried that. it doesn't do xset. I do chkfontpath --add and then
chkfontpath --list. the new directories are there, but gfontsel,
xfontsel or kfontmanager won't see them until I xset +fp manually. also
I restart xfs and the X and all, it still won't see them, I still add
them manually. I think it's a more serious bug than that (both ttf and
Type1 fonts)

if either will work I'll be happy. right now I need to add either by
hand.
in fact, I think it sees only the first directory, whether I have
multiple directories with comas, or multiple FontPath lines in the
XF86Config. if misc is not the first, it complains it can't gind
"fixed" and the X won't run at all. it never used to do that... and it
makes no sense either. ideas?
