Well, last time we had maddog (!), although it was not exactly an
event of ILUG (or IGLU, excuse me), but joint with sponsors.
The last event that I was responsible for, had Yossi Vardi (!) as
a keynote. While he is not exactly a Linux person, you must agree
that he is a real celebrity, and IMHO, also a great and cool
speaker. It even didn't cost a buck for anybody.
(Sorry for the "(!)"; I saw yours, and couldn't stop myself ;-)
But I don't think that RMS or maddog are the best for US, who are
already Linux fans. Advocacy is good, but technical lectures may
be better. This is what I thought when I organized the event in
the beginning of 1999, and as I guessed - the (technical) lecture
of Prof. Amnon Barak attracted the audience, and resulted in a
very good feedback.
In any case, forget about bringing technical lecturers from US
(or other places) to here. But we have enough authors of known
Open-Source packages here...
