Uber khokhem... :-)

RMS is Richard Stallman of the FSF and the GNU project. Uber hacker and
thought provoker, the lone programmer on the road, owning nothing except
for the shirt on his back and refuses to make one dime off
commercialized products that include one ounce of non-GPL code. to need
to say more would be embarasing on a linux list. go search the web. the
guy coined "Free Software" and is my kind of a comunist :-)

ESR is Eric Raymod, coined "Open Source" for which RMS probably hates
him, a geek who rose to fame after he wrote a semi-interesting mass
(search for "the cathedral and the bazaar" all over the place, he just
made a whole book out of it, nobody is worried about his pocket either).
That article "accidently" got him famous because it caused Marc
Andreesen to decide on opening up the code to Mozilla. apperently he was
swept into this with very little control, he was caught complaining once
about the burden of the "job". I appreciate the publicity he managed to
sweep around him, but I'm not partial to his style...

for other newbies out there, here's a list of other people and
characters in this ongoing saga you "should" all know, these are the
people at the media, Free Software, Open Source and linux community
focus...

Linux Torvalds
Alan Cox
Dave Miller (aka davem)
Bruce Perens
Jon Hall (aka maddog)
Joey Hess
Miguel De-Icaza
Jeff Bates and Rob Malda aka Hemos and CmdrTaco respectively
Larry Wall
