now, something here just does not make sense. when you say 'lack of
resource' - what exactly do you mean? system administration resources? or
hardware resources?

you do realize that your bandwidth costs quite more then adding
some more disk-space for a mail server? just think of all your users
setting their clients to check for new mail every 10 minutes... 

it will also allow your users to work using 'imap' locally, which is often
far superior to using pop3. not to mention the freedom that you get for
defining new user accounts, setting up local software that your ISP would
never implement, etc.

the story is different, ofcourse, if you're talking about a large company.
on the other hand - so are the resources, usually...
