It may be off-topic (although even according to the strict rules I
suggested, it's not - it's about Israel, and Linux is mentioned...),
but it's funny, original, and very actual, so I decided to post it:

It begins like a typical joke of "Russian, American, and Israeli",
but most of my following joke is truth...

The following question was raised in some boards of directors in the
beginning of the 90's:

Y2K bug is going to be the main hysteria in the end of the century;
How is our company prepared for it, how can we survive it, and what
can we do to benefit it?

The following answers were received in these meetings:

McDonnell-Douglas: "Let's patent it!".

Microsoft: "A bug? Let's try to define it as the new industry
standard. Plan B: If our customers don't accept it, let's use it as
the title of a new family of products. Why are 'Office 2000', 'Word
2000', 'FrontPage 2000', 'Outlook 2000' good, and 'Bug 2000' bad?
This may even help us to convince the PTO that '2000' should be
registered as our trademark!"

Novell: "Wow, this can be a great opportunity for us to solve our
main threat: Loosing market share for Microsoft and Linux. Our
market researches show that nobody will buy new products of us in
1999-2000, but we will still have a huge installation base. So let's
insert Y2K bugs into our products, as many as possible, insert
appropriate disclaimers into our end-user license agreements, and
when the millenium is nearing, launch new releases without these
bugs, and force all of our existing customers to upgrade. We can
make a lot of money out of this upgrade, more than ever in our
history!"

A mysterious religious American group: "Let's go to Jerusalem, and
have a collective suicide!".

Al Gore: "Y2K bug? I invented it!"

Anonymous: " '00'? Go directly to the end of the hall, turn to the
right, and there you can find a door with '00' on it. For both men
and ladies."

Bezeq: "Y2K bug?  To solve it?  Ha-ha...  To ignore it?  Ha-ha;
Let's promote it! We will spin-off a daughter company 'Bezeq Bein-
Leumi', and in the last weeks of the millenium, this company will
launch a new campaign, to preach and encourage the Israeli nation to
HAVE and USE this bug. The title of the campaign will be: 'Bocharim
00!' ('Vote for 00!'), and the slogan will be: 'Hachi Kdai - 00!'
('00 is the Best!'). Dafna, start to practice drawing '00' with your
fingers on the air".

Disclaimer: It's only a joke, and I don't have anything against any
of the mentioned companies, including Bezeq. Moreover, I even didn't
decide yet regarding to what international provider to choose, and
Bezeq BeinLeumi still has 33.33% (but please don't spam me).

Disclaimer^2: I know that the end of the millenium is the end of
2000 and not 1999. I only used the popular "definition". Don't flame
me.
