OTOH, you could get two ATA-66 drives for the price of one SCSI. If you
combine this with software RAID (and put each drive on its own IDE i/f), you
get a pretty reliable solution.
This is what we use on some of our servers.
Personally, I see no reason why SCSI disk mechanics should be more reliable
than IDE mechanics, other than the fact that some SCSI disks are of better
quality than their IDE counterparts (but that has nothing to do with the
fact that they are SCSI, only that they are considered "high-end".)
Electronics hardly ever fail, and that's the only difference between IDE and
SCSI, isn't it?
