the next Haifa linux club's (dubbed 'Haifux', thanks to '' for suggesting
the name) next meeting will be on 28-Nov-1999 (i.e. this SUNDAY) at 18:30
in the evening, the usual fishbach 413 room, CS faculty, technion, haifa.
The topic for the meeting will be 'introduction to sockets programming',
and it will be followed on a later occasion by an 'advanced sockets
programming' lecture.
in the introductory lecture we will discuss briefly the properties of the
TCP protocol, show how name lookups are performed, demonstrate writing of
simple clients (connectors) and servers (acceptors), and if timing is
right, show how to handle multiple clients by a single server. since the
lecture is a bit long, we won't hold a "discussion of the day" in this
meeting.
the lecture will be loosely based on the LUPG's internet programming
tutorial

).
note that the lecture to follow at a later date will assume knowledge of
sockets programming, and a little experience, so there will be enough time
between the two lectures to allow people showing up at the first lecture
to play a bit with sockets on their linuces.
