Subject: Netvision ppp

As of yesterday, I have been unable to connect to NetVision
ISDN with PPP under Linux. I have heard rumours that they (like
some other ISP's POPs) may be using some form of compression
which the Linux ppp does not support, and that only works
under MS systems. Does anyone know anything? All I know is
from vague postings on the net like comp.protocols.ppp.

I am enclosing a dump of what I think is the problem area
at dial-up time, as compared with a connection which
succeeds:

Dec 7 13:57:38 linux pppd[22614]:
  rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0xe6 <auth pap> <magic 0xab87635d>
                            < 11 04 05 f4> < 13 08 01 6e 76 68 66 61>]
Dec 7 13:57:38 linux pppd[22614]:
  sent [LCP ConfRej id=0xe6 < 11 04 05 f4> < 13 08 01 6e 76 68 66 61>]

This is a connection which succeeds:

Dec 7 13:59:42 linux pppd[22642]:
  rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x2c <auth pap> <magic 0x6e704889>]
Dec 7 13:59:42 linux pppd[22642]:
  sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x2c <auth pap> <magic 0x6e704889>]

Any help would be appreciated!

Many thanks,

Michael Ben-Gershon
