Hi friends ! With interest I have been reading this weekends mails. To save space and noise I put all my remarks into one :-) 1. What I wrote about HUJI people etc. was intended only as EXAMPLE and I kindly ask you to stop this thread about HUJI people and their Linux & community preferences. I am sorry for opening that topic and ask you to stop it before it gets out of hand (it served its purpose by shaking up the emotions :-). 2. What is for sure true is that we are on the border between beeing a community group or a pure information exchange. I suppose we simply have to get used to the fact that as Linux is getting more and more mainstream it is loosing more of its community appeal of the "pioneer time". Linux for sure left its baby stage and I know about whole companies that use Linux as *Desktop* system (of course they don't need hebrew Word :-). 3. Somebody (sorry, forgot who) told "us Jerusalemites" to open our own club and hold lectures etc.. I would very much like to get more actively involved in such activities, but unfortunately I will start my army duty in several weeks. Once I am "in" I hope I will have time to dedicate to "the cause" and if possible for sure I will do so. Place etc. is for sure no problem since on the list are enough people with warm relations to HUJI (including myself) and I am sure that we can get support there. Anyway, in ca. 3 weeks I will come back to that topic, hopefully not alone. One aspect I for sure would like to see is to have these meetings more or less family-friendly, especially the ones that gear to the community aspect of ILUG ! 4. Hebrew is indeed the main problem for most of our activities. As for the email standard problem, why not make several lists with automatic conversion between them ? Like one for logical, one for visual and one for those who can read hebrew only as .gif :-) You can send you mail to any one of them (or to the one with the encoding you use) and the mail gets converted to the other encodings automatically. Besides that what we need is some volunteers who will write, write, write write and then write some more. There is no alternative since we cannot expect that all the country will become erudite overnight and enjoy reading english manuals. This actually is an appeal to those who have difficulties with english (and ex-newbies who managed to install their system with english mans but rather would like to have had hebrew ones). I don't expect the sysadmins and other people who don't mind at all reading english to sit down and translate stuff. But newbies who just passed the difficult stage and know what the howto actually talks about are probably the best and most suitable to translate stuff. I am sorry that I can't really help here since Hebrew is my weak side, at least in writing.
