Problem with the resolution

Hey   How did you all config the Resolution? I think I have a problem with that.  I am loading Xconfigurator and I am choosing 1024*1280 and I choose between 50 and 90 and the problem is that The resolution stays something like 100*100 and I can be in that resolution... How can I set the resolution?   I have 17" monitor and I have AGP ATI Voodoo III 3000.   What should I put in the setting so it will work on 1024*1280 resolution?   David
