I think that this discussion is off-topic, but since I was addressed,
I have to reply, don't I?

Actually my opinion is the same: The *REAL* end of the millenium is
December 31, 2000; This date is exactly 2000 years after the beginning
of the count (although Jesus' birthday was 4 years before or after, I
don't remember...).
It could even save us from some problems, like the connection between
the festivals of the new millenium and the Y2K bug, the falling of
these festivals in the middle of Shabbat (without mentioning religious
issues), etc.
But all the dummies already decided that December 31 1999 is the end
of the millenium, so what I meant was Dec. 31 1999.
