Yes, you sure did miss something. I had problem with LILO from RedHat and
knew from prior experience that SlackWare's lilo doesn't do any problems and
their configurator for lilo. So, I downloaded this tarball as you called it
which is really designed for slackware because it's from their installation
CD, and tried to install it, ".tgz" files are sometimes the RPM of Slackware.
thats why i tried to convert it to ".RPM".
