This ``spam'' was sent to the mailing list on Sun, 21 Nov 199
16:20:37. An apology explaining that the message was sent here
by mistake followed 1:06 minutes later.
The ``spam'' was sent using Mozilla, not the world's most
popular bulk mail software.
It was sent by a subscriber; in fact, a quick archive search
shows that this subscriber has posted ~11 message to the mailing
list in the last year. (I.e. this is not a spammer who subscribed
in order to bypass the posting restrictions.)
The message in question is as ``unsolicited'' as any off-topic
message on this list is. It's as ``commercial'' as any off-topic
commercial message on this list is (e.g. sysadmin job offers,
which most people don't mind).
It'd be nice if everyone always posted on-topic and no one made
any mistakes, but not doing so is not currently grounds for
account termination on most sites on the Internet. It is not spam.
It is not network abuse.
This sort of hysterical bullshit does not help the fight against
spam.
P.S. Just in case this message is also deemed ``spam'', I'll
note that I'm replying to a message you cc'd to the list.
