Is there anything like this for netscape on linux?

Hmm... not in netscape, as far as I know. Though IE has that option. 
If your on a Mac, you can try installing WebFree which blocks web ads 
and animations, among other things (http://www.falken.net/webfree/). 
There are 2 or 3 programs that do that for Win95 too.

Pardon my memory loss, but I don't recall dealing with you before. 
Could you refresh my memory?
