Dear Friends,
Without any production applications, the speed of operation is more or less
satisfactory, but Netscape 4.6 crawls, and Star Office barely moves at all.
It also crashes quite often. I installed WordPerfect 8 and it ran fairly
well, but I removed it because I am running with under 20% free space in the
partition. (The swap partition is fine). Is this slowness normall for KDE?
Is there any way I can improve the speed of operation?
I am running a Pentium 133 with 32 M RAM, and a 6 GB HD, 4 for Win98 (with
Hebrew support) and 2 for Linux. The Linux distribution is SuSE 6.2, Kernel
2.2.10, using KDE 1.1.1 desktop and utilities in X-Windows XFree86TM 3.3.4,
access via LILO.
