My information was connected with e-mail of guy keren who said something
about where you can find information about the SNMP (I mean RFC documents
for example 1155, 1213, 1212 etc - see the RFC-index). I gave tools which
usage will help to understand what SNMP and MIBs really are. Sometime
theoretical explanation is not sufficient or to obscure. I have a book about
it but I have it at home. Tommorow I will say its title and author.
I don't want to quarrel but SNMP is relatively easy and you cannot compare
it with such mechanisms like DNS.

Well, not so true. You don't offer to play with dig, named and nslookup to
one who wants understand how DNS works. Because they would give you row of
IN's, NS's and numbers, but you'll still know nothing about how and why it
works, what those numbers mean, etc. You go and point the man to a book,
say "DNS and BIND", and then, only then, to dig, nslookup, etc.

Again, DNS is a simple protocol too, and so is SMTP and HTTP. But to get
the picture of how domain system or mail system or WWW functions gets
some effort, though it's no rocket science indeed.
So, if anybody has a name of a good book on the subject, name it.
