Amit, I assume your real problem is the Creative 56K winmodem. Winmodems aren't supported under linux (but watch this space...). If you are running a dual system (i.e. you can boot-up either linux or windoze, again and again and again...) you probably won't want to replace your 56k modem with a 28.8 Kb. Well, you don't have to! Pick up a cheap 28.8Kb regular modem (NOT a losemodem) and plug it into your box, next to the 56K. now, daisy-chain the telephone line from one modem to the other.
