Package: dosemu
Version: 0.98.1-3

DOSEmu enables access to the display in the way you mention (writing directly 
to 0B800H area). I do not know what is the minimal configuration that would 
allow it.
As for the rest of the hardware, I believe that some, if not all, requires 
special configuration of DOSEmu.
