You mean from apache (like authentification) or for database/web programs?
The first does auth_mysql, the second - I strongly recommend PHP3 (which
is under www.php.net). There's also mod_perl, which can do really
anything (it's Perl inside Apache), including MySQL, but that may be way
more advanced and complicated than you need. PHP3 is simple if you know C
- you could use it after 2-3 days of playing with examples.
