The most critical ingredients in a PLIP connection are two:
- A laplink compatible cable and - A BIOS parallel port setting on both
computers, that is identical. I.e. if the 486 has SPP and EPP and the
Pentium has this, then, both must be set the same way. Not all laplink
compatible cables are laplink compatible cables. Check yours with the
wiring diagram in one of the Howtos.
There are also special settings to the PLIP device that have to do with
speed. I do not remember whether this was written in the source or in the
Howtos ;)
