AFAIK rpm generates many important dependencies (like .so, etc) by itself.
About package dependencies - I really don't know, I tried it mostly on
stand-alone packages (like WINE, for example), and it worked. If it
mishandles dependencies, time to contact alien maintainer(s) with your
findings :) Theoretically, it's possible to extract any dependence
information from .deb - since it's there, so if alien dosn't, it should be
fixed.
