I know there's and anti-SPAM setup for ISPs, that states that they should
not allow access to users from outside their local subnet, and in order for
subscribed users to access the servers form outside the local subnet, the
user will have to 'check mail' with POP or IMAP, the server will then
remember the user's IP and will relay mail from that IP for a limited time
(usually half hour). maybe that's the problem, and that's y you get that
message - 'Please try checking mail (logging in) with POP or IMAP first.'
