Did you try to issue
telnet -h
at command prompt? :) ... and
man telnet
? :) If nothing helps, read at last manual :)
telnet localhost 25
and you can talk with you MTA or
telnet localhost 80
and you can talk with you web server, of course only if know how do it
that :)
