Hi. I happened by an old (x1) philips/lms cm205 CDROM (with a cm250 interface card) and decided to add it to my fileserver. under DOS it works. the 2.2.5 kernel has support for the x2 model (called cm206 with the cm260 interface card) this driver wont work with this CD-ROM. (when I point the drivers IO and IRQ to that of the adapter using the append option, the kernel hangs during booting). no device conflicts. [*] Support non-SCSI/IDE/ATAPI CDROM drives < > Aztech/Orchid/Okano/Wearnes/TXC/CyDROM CDROM support < > Goldstar R420 CDROM support < > Matsushita/Panasonic/Creative, Longshine, TEAC CDROM support < > Mitsumi (standard) [no XA/Multisession] CDROM support < > Mitsumi [XA/MultiSession] CDROM support < > Optics Storage DOLPHIN 8000AT CDROM support <*> Philips/LMS CM206 CDROM support <*> Sanyo CDR-H94A CDROM support <==== this one < > ISP16/MAD16/Mozart soft configurable cdrom interface support < > Sony CDU31A/CDU33A CDROM support < > Sony CDU535 CDROM support however, checking my /dev I found the following: 14:36|[pharoe] aris:/dev#ls -la cm* brw-r----- 1 root disk 30, 0 Jun 24 1998 cm205cd brw-r----- 1 root disk 32, 0 Jun 24 1998 cm206cd so this device DOES have major and minor nummies. Anyone know if a driver for this thingie exists, and where I may lay my sweaty little hands on it? thanks in advance... <-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-> \ Miki Shapiro <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ; ACTCOM Technical Support \ \ ACTive COMmunication Ltd. ; Tel. 1-800-300-123 \ \ \ / "To err is human.
