Probably you didn't get the idea of the announce list. Its purporse is to satisfy
people who aren't interested in general-level discussions, but only want to see
important announcements. If it didn't exist, all announcements would be sent to the
main list, and you (as a subscriber of the "plain" list) would get them anyway, so
what's the difference?
