Im sorry if this is the wrong mailing list, we appear to be using
quite an old version of heartbeat but given the time we have put into
it are reluctant to move away from it. Ive posted a job on Elance for
anyone interested in doing some work on it to add a new feature to it,
below is the job posting -

"Loadbalancer.org write S/W for loadbalancers you can check out our
website - www.loadbalancer.org to see what we do.
We are looking for a talented C programmer to help us progress the
functionality of our product.

Currently we use a patched version of heartbeat to control fail-over
between our appliances, utilising the functionality of HAResources its
given the ability to control the state of IP addresses. Bringing up
the floating IP address on one of the 2 nodes that is currently active
in the cluster.

On restarting the heartbeat process HAResources takes down the
interfaces under its control and brings them back up as part of its
restart process.
What we would like to have is the ability to soft restart heartbeat.
So that the interfaces are not taken down on restart but the heartbeat
process is restarted enabling the seamless integration of a new node
to the cluster or to correct communication problems between the 2
nodes without interrupting live load-balanced services.

If the nodes have split brained and the interfaces are live on both
appliances a full restart will be required and handling this is not in
the remit of this project.

We would require a patch or set of patches that enables this
functionality based on the source files attached to the job posting.
We use Heartbeat-2-1-Stable-2.1.4 as a base but additional patches are
used to add other functionality that we have required. These patches
are already in the source files provided, but can be available
separately on request."

We will of course be happy to make the feature public to anyone that wants it.

If your interested feel free to contact me directly or via the Elance advert
Job ID: 47430875

Thanks
