Good morning Ulrich,

the problem are the words "some clients". Have you ever seens what happens
when
the name resolution library is trying to get answers first from one or two
dead
nameservers? (I'm sure you have ;-) )
Load balancing may also be a reason to use lvs in front of DNS servers.

Do you know that the design of DNS had failover right from the start? Just
specify multiple nameservers.
Some clients do their own response time statistics and select the fasters
server from the list.
