IMHO the current s/w does not do a great job of 'monitoring'
the link - you can pull an ethernet plug and this will not
be noticed (other than by remote ping's failing, which you
then have to monitor via another resource (E.G. ping[d])) -
putting something in place to check the link status (very
often) would be nice ... that said, I have not submitted
anything to do this, so I can't moan too much :-) .
