I thought we had agreed that this should be implemented in the LRM in a
generic fashion?
Surely we don't want each and every single plugin to have to do this by
itself, and end up with a load of different syntax variations (which
would make configuration a chore, since GUI/CLI need to support this).
I'd like to see this auto-substituted via the LRM based on the
meta-data, and auto-handled (via a meta-data hint that the field's
content should be stored externally?) by the various configuration
front-ends.
