Thanks, this solved the problem.

Now I'm able to tune and watch channels but I noticed an interesting thing:
I'm running femon, the signal strength and snr seems ok, if I run szap then
the signal strength falling down (but the channel is tuned):

coda:/usr/src/linuxtv-dvb-apps-1.1.1/util/szap$ ./femon
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0'
FE: STB0899 Multistandard (SAT)
status 00 | signal 9bc4 | snr 0804 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 |
status 00 | signal 9bc4 | snr 0804 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 |
status 00 | signal 9bc4 | snr 0804 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 |
status 00 | signal 9bc4 | snr 0804 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 |
status 00 | signal 9bc4 | snr 0804 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 |
status 1e | signal 00a0 | snr 0091 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1e | signal 009d | snr 0093 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1e | signal 009d | snr 0090 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1e | signal 009d | snr 0091 | ber 00000000 | unc bf82ea28 | FE_HAS_LOCK

I read that some cards support only 8 bits of data in strength & snr. what I
don't understand is why the strength is dropped to 8 bits if tuned. (I'm
newbie, I hope that I interpreted the data well.)

Regards
László
