Check this thread out: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?t=105982101200001&r=1&w=2 IIRC the outcome of this discussion was "use BTN_x instead of KEY_x if you don't want your remote control to generate keyboard events". I don't know what to do about arrow keys, though. Also, please consider that one can use a IR keyboard.
