e na pg 81 tem o seguinte:

nice value will prevent skips in your playback.

Also useful is the -u and -g options which set the priority of all the
processes that a
user or group owns.
Further, there is the nice command which starts a program under a
defined niceness
relative to the current nice value of the present user. For example

nice +<priority> <pid>
nice -<priority> <pid>"
