Partition Image is a Linux/UNIX utility similar to Symantec's Ghost. This
uility saves partitions in the EXT2, Reiserfs, NTFS, HPFS, FAT16, and FAT32
file system formats to an image file. The image file can be compressed with
gzip or bzip2 in order to save disk space, and it can be split in order to
fit onto a series of floppy disks. This program can be useful for backup
purposes. A boot/root disk is also provided, allowing you to run Partition
Image without Linux installed on the hard disk.

About: gDiskImage is a management system for disk images. It is convenient
for managing system disks, little OSes, and so on. Its archives are managed
using PostgreSQL, and allows you to browse through the archives with an HTML
interface.

Ghost for Unix is a bootfloppy that allows one to easily clone PC harddisks
by using FTP. This is often done to deploy a common setup on a number of PCs.
The floppy offers two functions: it uploads the compressed image of a local
harddisk to a FTP server, and then it can retrieve that image via FTP,
uncompress it, and write it back to disk. Network configuration is fetched
via DHCP. As the harddisk is processes as a image, any filesystem and
operating system can be deployed using g4u.

sEx (super Extractor) is a wrapper for compression and diskimage utilities.
It let you use one single command to list and extract 32 different
fileformats using the same output format and options.

Webclone is a PC network-cloning toolbox. It provides a way to make a set of
floppy disks including a boot-disk and a root disk based on your running
kernel. These floppies can then be used to boot up a PC, grab a system image
from a Web server, and install that image to the PC.
