That's an excellent example of when foresight is better than hindsight.
Why we humans seem to need to wait until extinction or tragedy threatens
life before we make changes in how and what we consume is an
unfortunate irony. You might remember that when the pandemic hit, toilet
paper went flying off the shelves faster than they could keep it in stock
causing a TP shortage. Bamboo toilet paper began making its way into
supermarkets and CVS stores which to my mind was good on several levels.
But, evidently, the vast majority did not share my sentiment for whatever
reasons because TP from trees was preferred over the bamboo TP. It began
to disappear and can no longer be found in those stores. It's pricier, but
well worth it for all the reasons already stated. If one person could make
such a positive impact on industries, imagine what would happen if more
people made similar efforts to reevaluate their habits of consumption and
choose wisely?
