Hello Melissa, I am one of the people who has been advocating for EV school buses and was at the Planning Board meeting the other night. The approval that was granted was to put EV chargers for the 6 new EV buses in on that side of Doherty's where there are currently a number of cars parked. The buses will replace those on a newly cleaned up and asphalted parking area. There was agreement the area would be cleaned up, with no cars in that area any longer, trees added as screening from the road, and a much better looking face to the street.
That sounded like a very good plan that will look a lot better than it does now. It is also an amazing thing to see that a small town like Lincoln can have this very positive and very expensive step forward, at no cost to the town and with substantial grants to support the move from diesel buses to EVs. Doherty's Bus operation was also awarded a grant as a part of a pilot program where those bus batteries will be used as a part of what is called "V2X" or :vehicle to everything" where the utility will pull power from the batteries, mostly in the summer during peak afternoon periods, when there is a lot of demand on the grid. My understanding is that only three bus groups in the state were selected for that. Lincoln is very fortunate to have a group like the Doherty Bus operation in town with great leadership and a forward thinking team. Also, the bus operation is separate from the garage, as the garage was sold a year or two ago. Scott ___________________________ Scott L. The place is piling up more & more front, backs & sides of the building. Looking like a body shop with cars & junk everywhere! There are cars parked on the lawns dripping fluids. Now it’s going to look like a car dealership!!!! What next, a MacDonalds? A Dunkin' Donuts? They have quickly made the quaint little town village of Lincoln very UGLY! How many trees will come down now?!!! Sent from my iPhone -- The LincolnTalk mailing list. To post, send mail to [email protected].
