Interesting question. I believe I've given more thought to this aspect of
email systems in the past 15 minutes, doing LL email catchup tonight, than I
had in 30+ years of actual email use!😅
That said I've always pronounced it like "reed" because the "read receipt" it
is a receipt of the other person's READING of my message.🤷♂️
