We have had an awning that runs the full length of the back/south face of our home for over 40 years now-replaces it several times. It goes up in the summer and down in the fall. It dramatically affects the temp. In the house , and creates and extra room over our deck. It also reduces cooling costs. We also use awning over windows on the same face for the same reasons.
As it is raised (the deck is a story off ground level) there is not an issue with bugs, except after dark. We use a fan, on low, to move air and deal with those dusk and after-dark bugs- something folks in the South have done for generations. HS Awning installs, removes and stores the awnings in the off season; They have been great!! https://hsawningandtent.com/ HS Awning & Tent Company Inc. hsawningandtent.com > On May 4, 2025, at 2:56 PM, sophie dixon <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi there, looking at trying to install an awning / shade cover for the back > of the house.
