*Lincoln250 @ the LPL Display: * Women in Colonial Lincoln While traditionally regulated to supporting roles, the Revolution brought the political into the household sphere more than any previous war or upheaval had done before. This led to women often mobilizing their sons or husbands to support the war was, as historian Linda Kerber writes, "part of their expression of their surrogate enlistment in a society in which women did not fight" (Kerber, 22).
