Thank you to all of the kind Lincoln neighbors who sent positive healing thoughts for our little dog Maisy after her attack by coyotes last night. We can't say enough good things about the professional, caring veterinary surgeons, doctors and nurses at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn. After almost five hours of surgery, they were able to repair the damage. She looks a bit like Frankenstein with drains and lots of sutures, but she has a good prognosis. There will be a recovery period, but we are very grateful today. I know we are changing our relaxed nighttime routine for our dogs and encourage other Lincolnites to take care with their pets, particularly at night. I always knew I lived in a kind community and the many emails of support and well-wishes today really helped me as we waited for word of the outcome. Take care, Pauline On Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 12:39:20 PM EST, Joanna Schmergel <downsizefordivers...@gmail.com> wrote: I’m so sorry to hear about your pup. I hope he is ok💕 Even those of us with giant breeds like us, with a 150 pound Newfie, need to remember that although a large dog can pretty easily take out 1 coyote, a pack of coyotes can easily kill a large dog.

They are so capable there, and I wish you the best outcome for your beloved pet. Also as a reminder, I saw 2 very large (german shepherd sized) coyotes running down Tower Road just last week, around 8pm. Right down the middle of the Road. They are very vocal here around 83 Tower Road, as we are sandwiched between the Harrington Conservation land/Beaver Pond area and the Conservation parcel between Tower and Todd Pond Rd. I keep my somewhat deaf, mildly mobility challenged, senior pet on a leash now at all times in my yard. We have just returned from the emergency veterinary hospital in Woburn, having left our 7 year old Jack Russell Terrior in their intensive care awaiting emergency surgery after an attack by a pack of coyotes in our yard this evening. I just want to remind pet owners, after having been forcefully reminded myself, that wild animals can and do attack beloved pets. Please be careful with your much loved animals.
