Hi, Lincoln Talkers — In the past year, a few Lincoln residents have formed the
Lincoln Tree Preservation Committee, with the goal of understanding what bylaws
and regulations are in place in Lincoln to protect and preserve our tree
resources, and looking at how other Towns have addressed/are addressing tree
protection and preservation. We hosted a table and shared materials with
attendees at last Saturday’s State Of The Town Meeting. Our handout summarized
the two topics we have been studying, and includes a link to a short (8
question) survey . We want to know what issues relating to LIncoln’s trees are
of interest and/or concern to our fellow residents, and hope the survey will
give us an idea on that. We are also planning several educational events in
early 2025, to inform residents of the opportunities and challenges faced by
Lincoln’s trees. The long term goal is to consider strengthening our existing
regulations (which would require a public hearing) or even adopting some sort
of tree preservation bylaw, as other towns have done (which would require a
majority vote at Town Meeting). But we are still in the information gathering
phase — and that includes seeking info from you. Please read our handout —
found on the Town website at
https://www.lincolntown.org/DocumentCenter/View/97947/Lincoln-Tree-Preservation-Study-Group-2024-SOTT-Handout-Final-docx?bidId=
 and take the survey

. We would love to hear from you! If you didn’t attend the SOTT and want to
review other handouts and presentation materials, you will find them on the
Town’s SOTT website . Please let me know if you have questions, and/or would
like to be more involved in the efforts of the Tree Preservation Committee.
