Friends, Since I am getting mails of appreciation, let me explain the picture a bit. The cosmology of creation consists of a Mother who has three manifestations in time. In the beginning she is slumber and becomes wealth by being in the ocean (left deity). There she develops sound and becomes knowledge (right deity). Human beings acquire wealth and knowledge, then abuse the earth. Mother manifests as the deity to slaughter the abuse (center). Such cycles continue, so we survive. Thus is the celebration. The deities are made with clay. The wealth is yellow, the knowledge is white. The earthly abuser is in blue below trying to throw a dagger at the Mother. The Mother kills the abuser remote directly to the heart! The Mother is extolled in beautiful Sanskrit literature which is recited during the period. I have occasionally done it in local temples and in our home. It is a marathon three hours of imaginary constructs of understanding our nature. Best regards, Bijoy Misra
