Dear Lincoln,

I am supporting my dear friend of 50 years whose power wheelchair died Friday
night. She is a retired physician who has MS and lives independently in
accessible Boston housing. She is remarkable in what she can do with so little
physical function. When her chair died she had no choice but to call 911 and
waited on a gurney at BIDMC Milton over night until they had a room for her.
Pretty terrible conditions. She is a "social admission" without an acute
diagnosis. She is getting poor care. With a power chair she is capable of
caring for herself better than she is getting cared for in the hospital. She
cannot live independently without a power wheelchair.

The ironic thing about this is that insurance pays for a power wheelchair every
5 years. She is supposed to get her new chair at the end of this week, that is,
if it's ready. We'll find out if she can get it sooner. When she gets a power
wheelchair, she can go home. Her Case Manager reached out to several companies
and got no where on this holiday weekend.

Does anyone have any connections to a company who can help my friend ASAP? Or
do you have access to a loaner power wheelchair? Please email me directly.

Thanks in advance.
