On the eve of Indigenous Peoples' Day, you'll definitely want to join us for Acquinnah Wampanoag historian and author Linda Coombs' important online presentation on Thursday, October 24, 7- 8:30pm, A Nation in Balance: Sovereignty, Earth and the Meaning of Right Relation. Sign up now for the third presentation in our series Tyranny vs Liberty: Politics in 17th Century New England to find out about the politics that were already here when the colonists arrived.
In the meantime, there are a number of amazing events coming up. They're not organized by the Partnership of Historic Bostons, but we thought you'd like to know that...
This Thursday, October 10, Boston's Museum of African American History is hosting its annual Stone Book Awards, honouring three authors and their contribution to African American history. Get tickets here, in-person or livestreamed.
And the city of Cambridge - built on the land of the Massachusett at Ponkapoag - is celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday, October 14, 12-6pm with ceremonial dances, vendors and storytelling, in University Park, 65 Sydney St, Central Square, Cambridge. As background, have a look at History Cambridge's fantastic Indigenous Peoples History Hub. Find out more about Monday's celebrations here.
We hope to see you there!
