Dear Steve: thank you for your constructive, empathetic and compassionate thoughts towards drivers. I have similar warm thoughts towards cyclists who flout the laws on trails and roads alike but since they have no license plates or other identifying marks do so with impunity.
How about this for a solution…… Don’t repave Tower Road. I am a 30+ year resident (not just passing through) and I see no reason to repave the road. The bumpier the better. We have nature’s own speed bumps (and craters). It seems that no one wants it repaved, not the residents, the cyclists, walkers or drivers (when threatened with the damages of speed tables, bumps (or whatever you want to call them) and 1984 inspired speed cameras). Let’s leave tower road in its natural state. And save our town a few dollars that it needs desperately because a few more “absolutely necessary projects” and only the ultra rich will be able to afford to live here and pay the taxes. I really don’t want to move but the taxes are already crippling, especially for those retirees on fixed incomes. A few more tax hikes and we can disband the COA. The only seniors left will have their own in home facilities and service providers.
