I met the new postmaster Mark and some of his new team last week and was
impressed by their enthusiasm, commitment, knowledge and friendliness. I
hope we can keep them in Lincoln. How lucky we are to have them here.

I have nothing but admiration and kudos for my mail carrier. Like ups
drivers (at least until the new ups contract) United States post office
vans have no air conditioning. These days I don’t know how they retain
these drivers willing to face heat, dogs, road hazards and other
unpleasantness on their rounds.

And then we have the wonderful stamps! There is a new stamp issue on
Endangered Species. And the John Lewis stamp was just released.

It is still remarkable to me that we can have physical mail and packages
delivered to our doorsteps 6 days a week without having to put more money
into Amazon’s bottomless pit of profits.

I dread the prospect of drones zipping around like green head flies
delivering mail and packages.

For those of you who believe checks have gone astray I would urge you to
have the checks sent certified mail. Never forget the famous adage “the
check is in the mail” …..

Unlike Sarah I am a newcomer to Lincoln- barely 30 years - but I have
never had a check or other mailing to me by usps go astray.
