Just a reminder that the GRALTA Foundation presents Mondoweisss Founder/Senior Editor Philip Weiss speaking on What Can Progressives Do to Change Americas Middle East Policy?
Saturday June 10, 1:30 PM Bemis Hall, 15 Bedford Road, Lincoln, MA Philip Weiss was born in Boston, grew up in Baltimore, and now lives in the Hudson River Valley, NY. He holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and was the Executive Editor of the Harvard Crimson. Phil began his career writing for newspapers in Minnesota and for the Philadelphia Daily News. His numerous articles have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Harpers, Esquire, Vogue, and other publications. An author of two books, Phil co-edited The Goldstone Report: The Legacy of the Landmark Investigation of the Gaza Conflict, a critically-praised 2011 retrospective on the official report prepared for the U.N. on Israels 2009 incursion into Gaza. For nearly a decade Phil wrote a column for the New York Observer, and in March 2006 he began a daily, self-titled online blog called Mondoweiss. A year later, the Observers Owner/Publisher Jared Kushner relieved him of his Observer responsibilities, and Phil took Mondoweiss with him. Phil wants you to know that in addition to his Mondoweiss immersion, he finds the time to practice the guitar and write music. Mondoweiss is Americas most important source of news and analysis for both Jewish and non-Jewish progressives interested in the struggle for human rights equality for all peopleJews and non-Jewsliving in Israel and the territories that it has annexed and/or occupies. Mondoweiss has become the go-to website ( <http://www.mondoweiss.net/> www.mondoweiss.net) for readers who want to be informed about developments in the region and related US policysubjects superficially covered by mainstream media and then almost always reported from Jewish and Christian Zionist perspectives. Domestically, Mondoweiss also covers debates over the role of Israel and nationalism in Jewish American life. Regards, Steve Low The GRALTA Foundation believes that effecting a change in US Middle East policy can only happen if there is grassroots outcry loud enough to gain mainstream media attention that leads to parity with the powerful Washington lobbies promoting the interests of their corporate and sectarian sponsors.
