I called the collector's office, and they informed me that the payments
made on 4/30 had not been applied.  The problem was resolved, and the
penalty fees were removed.  They told me that payments received on
4/30/2023 had been "hung up".  Given that it is now 5/22/2023 and I
received my demand for payment notice in the mail on 5/20/2023, this
explanation is hard to understand.  I am pleased that they have fixed the
problem, but would like to better understand the sequence of events that
led to so much anxiety about this.
