I don't tend to speak out about town issues, especially those that so
easily make me a good (no more oil-heated houses in Lincoln) person or a
bad (anti-environment!) person. But I do have questions about this proposal.

I am an environmentalist as much as I can afford to be and have the same
anxieties about the climate crisis as those proposing these housing
measures. But, can we hear back from builders regarding how it might affect
building prices? Can we hear from realtors? (many of us in town appreciate
the equity we have in our homes and don't want to lose it if we decide to
sell and the buyer wants to put on an addition? (and who doesn't these
days?!) Can we all agree to drive more efficient cars, walk when we can,
fly less and recycle more, as well? Maybe an additional part of this
proposal should be that the next car that Lincoln residents buy must be a
hybrid or electric model. The advantage of this would be that we would be
saying this is what we are willing to do to attend to the climate crisis,
and not this is what the next person building or expanding a home has to do.
